Hailee Steinfeld Had To Wear A Wig For Her Last Role – & It Was A LOT To Take

Hailee Steinfeld is not your average 20-year-old. She’s starring in the upcoming Pitch Perfect 3, was nominated for a Golden Globe this year, is the newest face of athletic clothing brand MISSION (co-founded by the Serena Williams), and has some of the best pipes we’ve ever heard (that cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” is untouchable). On top of her outstanding talents, Steinfeld is a beauty inspiration to her legions of fans.

If there’s a trend, she’s most likely already on it — without even knowing. Just scroll through her Instagram and your beauty bank will be heavily fed and stuffed with smoky eyes, “upside down” makeup, and two-toned looks like you wouldn’t believe. And while she may be younger than most of us, we couldn’t wait to pick her brain on her glam squad tips, summer beauty necessities, and that hair in The Edge of Seventeen.

If you had to run to Sephora right now and pick up three products, what would it be?
“I always need a new Beautyblender. I love using those. Some good highlighter and foundation. When it comes to Sephora I’m always trying to get new things because there are so many options.”

You just got back from Coachella, what was the one product you absolutely needed to survive this weekend?
“A face mist, like a rose water. Those are key. With the heat and the dust, it’s nice to have that on-hand just to feel refreshed.”

How has athleisure, like MISSION, worked its way into your everyday life and routine?
“I do a lot of working out and dancing, especially with performing and touring. Mission has worked its way into my life in that way, pretty much full-time. They have a cool mechanism built in that comes in handy when you’ve been dancing in an eight-hour rehearsal and you’re hot and uncomfortable. I love that the brand is stylish, cool, and that the color schemes are amazing.”

You’re busy and in front of the camera nonstop, what advice would you give someone your age looking to find the confidence you always radiate?
“I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: Find what it is that makes you happy. Find your light. Find something that you love and that you’re good at and that makes you feel great. I think oftentimes that’s where I feel most beautiful and most confident — when I’m doing something I love and feel comfortable doing.”

Everyone seems to be cutting their hair lately, would you ever consider chopping your signature look?
“I would and I have. It’s funny because I’ve actually never colored my hair and I’ve had this conversation multiple times where I’m like, ‘I don’t know if I want to start coloring it. I don’t know if I want to chop it off, but I do want something different.’ I don’t know what that is, it doesn’t leave me with many options. So yeah, I’m down…I think I’ll do it definitely soon, too.” Continue reading “Hailee Steinfeld Had To Wear A Wig For Her Last Role – & It Was A LOT To Take”

Pitch Perfect 3 Is Probably the Last of the Bellas “As We Know Them”

Get your tissues ready—the end of Pitch Perfect may be near.

“I think that people will cry,” Pitch Perfect screenwriter Kay Cannon says of the upcoming third installment of the hit Universal Pictures franchise. “I think it’s the end of the Bellas as we know them. If there’s a Pitch Perfect 4, it will be a new crop.”

Cannon didn’t say if a fourth film is in the works, but said, “I think they just know. I had the feeling when I visited set, it was like they were full of tears and like, ‘How much longer can we be singing a cappella?'”

Pitch Perfect 3 wrapped earlier this month.

Hailee Steinfeld Says You Can Break Summer’s Biggest Beauty Rule

For such a carefree season, summer seems to come with an awful lot of rules, especially when it comes to fashion and beauty. You “have” to shave your legs. You can’t wear anything too casual (or revealing) at the office. And above all else, you *must* paint your toenails before putting on sandals.

But Hailee Steinfeld’s had enough, at least when it comes to the last (and biggest) “faux pas” on the list. The Cali girl and ambassador for REEF footwear told us that, hey—it’s perfectly fine to skip the pedi when rocking your flip flops. Of course, she explained it way better in her own words, so read on for Hailee’s full response, along with the wardrobe staple she says she wears way too much, and a bit of inside scoop from Pitch Perfect 3.

How she makes flip flops stylish:
“The beauty of flip-flops is you can put your own personal flair to them to either accentuate the color scheme of an outfit, dress them up or down, or add a playful vibe to your wardrobe. I’m often running between recording sessions and meetings where my outfit needs to be versatile, so a colorful REEF flip-flop with a dress and a bomber jacket would be a perfect ensemble.”

If it’s OK to wear flip flops and sandals without having a pedicure:
“I guess it depends. I’m a fan of pedicured toes at all times, but I’m not one to judge. If you’re spending days on end at a beach or playing sports and you’re going to be active, not having a pedicure seems perfectly reasonable to me. I tend to lean towards a soft pink for my toes unless I’m doing a shoot and I will wear whatever color is required to meet the production’s vision.”

The one item in her closet that she wears way too much:
“I have a pair of black sweatpants that have stood by me for years. They are always in my bag, at arms length, and even if I wore them everyday, I wouldn’t think it’s too much!”

The summer trend she hopes never goes out of style—and the one she hopes does:
“A perfect fitting jean short is a staple that I look forward to [wearing] when it starts to get warm. It’s also that time of year when neon tries to make a big comeback. I appreciate a bright color, but I don’t miss neon when it skips a season.”

How filming Pitch Perfect 3 is going:
“We have a lot of fun. With a large ensemble of women whose characters sing and dance, we feed off of each other’s energy, especially during a long night shoot. It’s hard work and we’re all committed to delivering an amazing movie.”

If she’s working on any new music at the moment:
“Yes, I am! I’m pulling double duty in Atlanta, shooting Pitch Perfect 3 and recording my album on the weekends. I also have a song that I’m featured on with Machine Gun Kelly that just dropped called ‘At My Best.’ I’m recording a new single now that I’m also really excited about.”

‘Pitch Perfect 3’ Stars Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld Wrap Up Filming

The cast of “Pitch Perfect 3” recently wrapped up their filming for the upcoming sequel.

On her Instagram account, Rebel Wilson shared a short video of herself with the main cast of “Pitch Perfect 3” hugging each other in a circle. Wilson also gave her co-stars a pep talk, saying that this is not the end for the Barden Bellas. Ana Camp posted a GIF on her Twitter account giving fans a kiss on their last filming day. Hailee Steinfeld couldn’t hold her laughter when she was photographed with Ruby Rose and several other guest stars from “Pitch Perfect 3.” Steinfeld, who was a newbie in “Pitch Perfect 2,” posted the snap on her Instagram account.

As of late, details about the main plot for “Pitch Perfect 3” are still being kept under wraps. But Entertainment Weekly revealed earlier this year that the filming, rehearsals and production mostly took place in Atlanta. The core Bellas will also return to the third installment. This includes Anna Kendrick, Wilson, Brittany Snow, Camp, Ester Dean, Chrissie Fit, Hana Mae Lee and Steinfeld.

Elizabeth Banks, who produced the first film and directed the second, will reprise her role as a cappella judge and mentor Gail. However, Banks did not direct “Pitch Perfect 3.” She handed off helming duties to Trish Sie. John Michael Higgins is also expected to return as John Smith, but his photos on set have not yet been leaked online.

Unfortunately, two male cast members from “Pitch Perfect” 1 and 2 will no longer return. Skylar Astin and Ben Platt, who played two members of Treblemakers, won’t be back. Some new cast members for Season 3 include Rose, whose role is still being kept a secret. She will be joined by Andy Allo and John Lithgow.

“Pitch Perfect 3” will hit theaters in the United States on Dec. 22.

Hailee Steinfeld Reveals the Footwear She Keeps Right by the Door

As the new brand ambassador for Reef, Hailee Steinfeld is currently starring in the brand’s spring ads, with another campaign set to launch in early summer.

FN got an early look at the new campaign, which features Steinfeld in ripped jeans, a pop-art-print jacket and the new tortoise-shell flip-flops launching this fall as part of the Reef Escape collection.

Recently, FN chatted with Steinfeld about partnering with Reef and how she puts together those great looks for her red-carpet and onscreen appearances.

What made you want to work with Reef?
One thing I find super-important when it comes to any collaboration is having a personal connection. Being born and raised in California, I grew up wearing the sandals, and as long as I can remember, multiple pairs have been at the bottom of the staircase, right by the door.

How would you describe your personal style?
It’s evolving, and I feel like it will continue to do that forever. Especially in the past two years or so, I’ve been getting into the music world and finding my identity in the music space versus being on a red carpet. For my own very personal style, I like to keep it comfortable and simple.

What’s it like collaborating with your stylists, Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haemm?
I’d been a huge fan of them for a very long time. We’ve been working together for a little while now, and they helped me find my confidence in the music space and the red-carpet space, and how I can make it seem like they’re not two completely different things but they do have a separation. I trust them a lot.

How do you put together your red-carpet outfits?
It’s based on how you feel in it. I love taking risks. I love that fashion has become such a huge part of my world. [With Rob and Mariel], I don’t have to say anything to them because they’re so amazing at what they do. I’ve been on the road a lot lately, so it’s been hard, but we’ve sent each other references. And our conversations are sometimes based around certain designers or shows that are happening and collections that we love.

Out of all the characters you’ve played, whose style did you connect with the most?
For my movie “The Edge of Seventeen,” I was very involved in the wardrobe. It was very hard to find her because here we have a character who was verbally called out in the movie for having a bad style. So we wanted her look to be quirky and different but still aspirational, where anyone could look at her and say, “I don’t see what’s wrong with what she’s wearing; it’s who she is.” It’s fun to go that extra mile and make a conscious decision to wear shoes that had dogs on them with socks that had cats on them. I wouldn’t necessarily wear an outfit the way she wore it, but I admire her ability to not care what anyone thinks. I relate to that.
