Hailee Steinfeld Talks ‘Looking Cute’ & ‘Feeling Good’ at the Gym: Check Out Her Dance Workout Playlist

The “Pitch Perfect 3” star is the face of Mission’s first line of women’s athletic apparel.

Being a triple threat is grueling work, so singer/actress/model Hailee Steinfeld has to train hard to stay at the top of her many fields — and it doesn’t hurt to look good while you’re putting in work.

“There’s something about looking cute, obviously, and feeling good,” Steinfeld tells Billboard of why she teamed up with Mission for the brand’s first line of women’s athletic apparel. “You know, when you’re working out and going hard, you don’t necessarily feel cute, so it’s nice to know you look great.”

Last week, Mission invited a group of reporters to experience a full dance workout alongside Steinfeld and her longtime choreographer Amy Allen in Hollywood, where the star wore head-to-toe Mission gear to put the brand’s cooling technology to the test. “With this Mission line — I don’t know if it’s just me, but I wear this every day,” she says. “It’s not just gym clothes. They have the cooling mechanism built in, which is crazy. You don’t necessarily know what that is or what it feels like until you wear it.”

Steinfeld has plenty to train for these days, between wrapping up Pitch Perfect 3 (which hits theaters in December), prepping for a Britney Spears medley performance alongside Kelsea Ballerini and Sofia Carson at this weekend’s Radio Disney Music Awards and dropping brand-new song “Most Girls” on Friday (April 28). When it comes to her perfect playlist for hitting the gym, Steinfeld typically likes to keep things on “shuffle” and be surprised by each song.

“I was in Atlanta making Pitch Perfect 3, and I was on the treadmill and I was listening to songs from other artists, and I was thinking about being onstage to this sort of song,” she recalled of filming the threequel last month. “Then the song would change, and I would think about performing to that type of song. As you’re running and it’s uptempo and you’re thinking about all these things … being in the mind-set of going to work and being the best you can be, there’s something about listening to music and creating music that makes people feel that way too.”
